Buffalo Bills Executive VP Ron Raccuia Departs After Stadium Deal

The Buffalo Bills’ front office experienced a significant shakeup as Ron Raccuia, the Executive Vice President and COO, departs from the organization. Raccuia played a pivotal role in negotiating the team’s groundbreaking $1.54 billion stadium deal, which was celebrated just six weeks ago with the groundbreaking ceremony. The new stadium is set to be an architectural marvel and is expected to open in time for the 2026 season.

In a surprise move, Bills owner Terry Pegula cited a monthslong evaluation of the team’s business operations as the driving force behind the decision to part ways with Raccuia. Pegula expressed gratitude for Raccuia’s many years of dedication and hard work, wishing him the best in his future endeavors.

Pegula’s New Role and Changes in Leadership

Following Ron Raccuia’s departure, Terry Pegula takes on a new role as the team president, adding to his already extensive responsibilities within Pegula Sports and Entertainment. This decision comes as Terry’s wife, Kim Pegula, the previous team president, has been away from the team for over a year, dealing with language and memory issues after experiencing cardiac arrest.

Taking over Raccuia’s roles, John Roth steps into the position of Executive Vice President and COO. Roth brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the COO for the Pegula-owned Buffalo Sabres since January. This dual role will undoubtedly test Roth’s abilities to effectively manage both organizations.

Promotions and New Hires in the Bills’ Organization

With the organizational changes, the Buffalo Bills also announced several promotions and a new hire to bolster their management committee. Kathryn D’Angelo, who previously served as the team’s general counsel, has been promoted to the position of Senior Vice President of Business Administration. Her expanded role indicates the team’s trust in her expertise in overseeing various business aspects.

Josh Dziurlikowski, the team’s vice president of finance, now holds the title of Senior Vice President of Finance and Business Administration. His experience and financial acumen will continue to be invaluable to the Bills’ operations.

Additionally, the team welcomes Penny Semaia, who joins as the Vice President of Stadium Relations. Semaia’s background as the Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of Pittsburgh makes her a perfect fit for managing the team’s interactions with the new stadium and fans.

Despite the recent changes, Terry Pegula expresses confidence in the newly constructed management committee, consisting of John Roth, Kathryn D’Angelo, and Josh Dziurlikowski. Their leadership and dedication are expected to propel the Buffalo Bills forward, maintaining their status as a formidable force in the NFL.
